Cheryl came home yesterday a little stressed out from her day. When that happens I know to give her space so I went into the Teton room and got online. A little bit later she surprised me by peeking in saying she wanted to know where I was. This surprised me for two reasons; the first one being that I didn’t hear her walking towards me. We have wood floors leading up to the Teton room, and she was in heels when she came home from work. The second was that she was “wondering” where I was.
A few minutes I walked up to her in the kitchen. We started talking for a bit and she told me that while she was preparing our salads for dinner, a bag of cheese flew off of the counter and landed on the floor next to her. She said that her first thought was that our cat somehow caused it to happen, but then saw her laying down where she usually sleeps.
Then she thought that I was “messing” with her thinking that she was in a bad mood. She mentioned this several times as we discussed what happened. To be honest with you, I didn’t think much about the incident until she showed me the bag of cheese, and how far it “flew.”
Here’s what happened. Before starting on our dinners, Cheryl made dinner for our cat, Albert, and our dog, Prince. Albert happens to love cheese. And I do mean she loves cheese (which is why her first thought was that our cat had something to do with this incident)! So she had this bag of cheese out, put cheese in Albert’s regular food, a homeopathic, anti-inflammatory type mixture – Albert has arthritis. She put the bag of cheese on the counter. She was preparing the salads on a good 4.5 feet away from where she put the bag which was to her right. A few moments later she heard the bag land to her left on the floor.
To give you a mental picture of this, our kitchen has an island that is slightly “V” shaped it. In the middle of the island is the sink with counters on both sides. She prepares our pet’s food on the right counter, and our food on the left counter.
As she was telling me what happened she went to the refrigerator and pulled out the bag. Being a former paranormal investigator, seeing the bag, I weighed it. It weighed 2.2 pounds (the bag of cheese originally weighed 5.5 lbs)! I then measured the distance she from where she told me she laid the bag down to where it landed. The distance was a total of 8 feet (from counter to floor)! That’s why she told me that she thought it was me, until she took her shoes off to sneak up on me and saw me on the computer.
Since she was stressed out when she came home, my first thought was that this might be simply poltergeist activity. I’m not so sure though. Only time, more activity, and further investigation will tell.
