Okay, I COULD be wrong about the whole poltergeist thing! September 25, 2008

After I published the last post this morning talking about how some of what’s going on here may be poltergeist activity, and Cheryl may be the agent, I went to back to bed. Cheryl and I like to lay there and talk for a few minutes because once she’s out of bed, she’s a whirlwind of activity feeding our pets, taking Prince out to go potty, and getting ready for work.

It was still dark outside, and the lights were all off, including the one on a timer in the bedroom. There is a night light in the room, and it was on.  I took my glasses off and put them on the drawers next to my side of the bed, and I heard them fall. Cheryl woke up and I asked her a few questions explaining my thoughts about what is going on possibly going on being poltergeist in nature.

Okay … I’ll pause for a moment while the women reading this groan, and some of the men laugh about my idea of “pillow talk.” Hey, Cheryl did say it made sense!

Okay … the pause for the cause is over, moving forward now … Cheryl got out of bed, and so did I. Before I did though, I looked over the mattress to make sure I knew where my glasses were so I didn’t step on them. They weren’t were I thought they would be, in front of the drawers. So I got out of bed, and looked between the drawers and the bed. Nothing there. I got down on my knees and ran my hand under the bed. Still nothing. I looked behind the drawers and didn’t see them.

I asked Cheryl to help me look since she’s had lasik surgery, and obviously I’m even more blind without my glasses than I thought! She came into the bedroom, looked behind the drawer and said, laughing, “There they are. You dropped them behind the drawer!”

I was stunned. I just looked behind it and didn’t see it. By the way, these are small, two drawers, one on each side of the bed. I grabbed a flashlight and looked again. There they were, behind the headboard, leaning on a post. “How in the hell did they get back there?” I wondered out loud. “There’s no way they’d end up there.”

“They could have if you set them down and bumped into something,” Cheryl offered. Who says she’s not logical about this sort of thing?

Well, I distinctly remembered, after all this happened maybe 20 minutes earlier, putting my glasses down, not throwing them down. I heard them fall and then I got into bed. I don’t remember bumping into anything. Even if I did bump into something I said to Cheryl, and they fell down that way, how did they end up behind the headboard, leaning against the post?

Cheryl gave me that said she hadn’t considered that. “That is weird,” she said.

I pulled the drawer out, and had to stretch to get my glasses. I then went and got a metal tape measure. I wanted to find out the distance between the edge of the headboard, and the post my glasses was leaning on – 9 inches.

I then started trying to recreate how this could have happened. I remember putting, not throwing, my glasses down in the middle of the drawer towards the front. That’s why I looked over the bed to make sure where they were before I got out. I thought they fell in front of the bed. Taking what Cheryl said into consideration, I put my glasses down on several spots on the drawer (there are a number of books on top) and bumped into it. They moved, but didn’t fall down.

So then I threw them onto the drawer. They fell down, and either landed right where they fell, or they bounced to the right, not to the left. The drawers are (I just measured) 24 1/2 inches across, and 17 inches from front to back. For my glasses to end up where they did, they would have had to bounce up (they were leaning on the post) after landing on the carpet, and traveled anywhere for 9 to 16 inches depending of where they fell from to end up leaning on the post the way they were.

So now, I’m left with (in my mind) three possibilities. One is that there is a ghost who is attached to Cheryl and was letting me know this.

The second is that Cheryl is the poltergeist agent, and was upset that I wasn’t in bed when she woke up.

The third is that this is poltergeist activity and I’m the agent. I’m under some stress as well, though I am good about talking about it, so that possibility, to me, is slim.

Honestly, I was leaning towards the second possibility rather strongly. Now I’m not so sure. Cheryl and I are going to be having dinner with friends tonight, so I drove her into work to have some time to discuss everything that’s going with her. Her back was hurting so I know she slept on the floor last night, but she was in bed by the time I got there after posting the last blog this morning.

I asked her if she was upset when she woke up that I wasn’t there, and she said that she wasn’t but that she was hoping I would be back before she had to get out of bed to start her day. Then she fell asleep.

I then told her what I’m again thinking. A lot of what is going on is from one ghost who has a “crush” on her; and another ghost who is very fond, and even protective of her, which I think is the child. I suggested that it was the child ghost that could have been the one behind my incident with my glasses. He could have also been the one who threw the bag of cheese, and yanked my t-shirts off of their hangers.

This made sense to Cheryl she said because last night she heard the “light” footsteps around her when she lay down on the floor, and when her hand was being tickled a couple of nights ago, Prince was laying with her and he didn’t growl.

When the chair moved, Cheryl told me he did look at it moving, started growling, and then looked at the stairwell and continued growling. This makes me think that it wasn’t the child ghost that moved the chair.

In addition to those two ghosts, I’m sure there are others, but I’ll have to figure them out another time.

I’m going to see if I can contact the ghosts. September 23, 2008

This morning when Cheryl woke up, the first thing she said to me was, “Something touched my hand last night. It woke me up.”

I asked her to tell me more about it. ”I was sleeping and I felt something touching my hand. I opened my eyes and looked, but there wasn’t anyone touching me that I could see. It tickled.”

I wasn’t surprised to be honest with you. Cheryl apparently has sciatica, and for the last few nights she’s been sleeping on the floor in order to relieve the pain in her legs. The night before last she told me that while she was sleeping on the floor she kept feeling “footsteps” walking from the bathroom, past her to the dresser, and back to the bathroom. She said that they were “light” like a child’s footsteps, and she felt them several times.

Could a child’s ghost have been touching Cheryl wanting to connect with her? Cheryl does have an energy that attracts people to her. A few months ago Cheryl and our friend, and psychic Debbie, both heard a child cry out “mommy?” from the stairwell while they were watching television. Is this the same child that both Cheryl and I have felt shake the bed?

Speaking of the stairwell, I was down in the basement earlier and I felt a spirit come up to me while I was putting away a “haunted” object that I wanted to do evp experiments with. When I started to go upstairs I carefully closed the basement door and went upstairs. A few minutes ago I was walking by the stairwell, and looked down. The door is open.

I’m going to call another psychic to come to our home and hopefully tell us what’s going on. In the meantime, I’m going to do automatic writing experiments to see if I can contact the spirits here and hopefully find out what their agenda is.

No ghosts last night, but in the morning… September 2, 2008

Last night was quiet for the most part, except for the usual sounds coming from the basement. Cheryl heard what sounded like growling coming from somewhere in the house. Our first thought was that is was Prince, but he was with us in bed, and asleep.

Cheryl and I did have an argument last night. She keeps going back and forth as to whether or not she wants to stay in this house. She says she’s not really bothered by all of the activity, but I’m wondering how much it’s affecting her. I do know that a lot of the activity is centered around her. We love this house, but I don’t want her feeling like she’s a target.

One of the things she mentioned frequently was that the bed would shake while she was still in it. Since I’m usually awake before her, what I do is work on my computer for about an hour in the morning, then go back to bed and when she wakes up we’ll lay there and talk before she has to get up and get ready for work. Lately, as I just mentioned, she’s been telling me that the bed would shake and wake her up. Personally, I didn’t experience it – until yesterday morning.

The night before I didn’t get to sleep until 12:30 am, which is really late for me anymore. I also had a late night the night before. Still, old habits die hard, and I was up at 4:30 am. I went back to bed around 5:30. Cheryl usually wakes up at 5;45, but since she didn’t have to be at work, I knew she was planning on sleeping in and I soon fell asleep. A little later, I don’t know what time it was, I felt the bed shake, and it woke me up.

My first thought was that Prince, our 7 lbs., toy poodle/guard dog, jumped onto the bed. I looked but he was fast asleep, as was Cheryl. I laid back down and thought about what I just experienced. It wasn’t an up and down shaking, but a side to side shake, like a child who was trying to wake a parent up by pushing on the mattress, twice.

I’m a sound sleeper, and it was enough to wake me up. Interestingly, Cheryl is a light sleeper, and she slept through this one. Cheryl loves to be able to sleep in when she gets a chance, still I was surprised that as hard as the bed shook, she didn’t wake up. Or was this event meant just for me?

When I told Cheryl about it and how I thought it was a child, we both agreed that it made sense since the footsteps in the hallway are “light.” Coupled with the incident that happened when she and Debbie were watching a movie and they both heard a child call out, “Mommy?” from the stairwell.

If there’s nothing out of the ordinary (like any of what normally happens here is “ordinary”) that happens today, I’ll tell you about some of the other events we’ve experienced, including what happened when we had a “paranormal investigation” team come by the house.

The ghost didn’t like the music we had on the radio. August 29, 2008

Last night Cheryl and I had the television on so we could see Obama give his acceptance speech. Actually, I pretty much listened to it since I was in the Teton room burning cds. After the speech Cheryl left the television on but turned off the sound and put the stereo on so she could listen to music while she busied herself cleaning house (we’re having company over for dinner tomorrow and she wanted to get a head start on the cleaning).

After I was done burning the cds I walked out into the family room to join Cheryl on the sofa. The television was still on but not the radio. “Did you turn the radio off?” she asked me.

“No.”

You didn’t turn the radio off?”

“No, after a while when I didn’t hear the music anymore, I thought you turned it off,” I told her.

She grinned and said, “Must have been one of our ghosts then.”

“I guess they didn’t like the radio station you had it on,” I laughed.

After about 30 minutes we decided to call it a night. We were going to bed when we both noticed Prince wasn’t following us the way he normally does. I saw him coming down the hallway after we called for him several times, and I thought, “he must need to go outside to relieve himself.”

“Do you need to go potty Prince? Come on, I’ll let you out.” With that I walked down the hall towards the stairs leading to the basement. At the top of the stairs I knew why it took Prince so long to follow us. Someone was down in the basement.

I started to go down the stairs and in the middle of the stairway ran into a boy, blonde, about 10 years old. How do I know this? Well, as I mentioned before, I actively investigated reports of ghosts, apparitions, and poltergeist activity for 20 years; actually, more, much more. After a while I figured out that if there was an intelligent spirit behind the activity, I knew it. I knew the sex, age, general description of the entity, and sometimes even a name, which I would give and it would later be verified.

I didn’t think of myself as psychic, I just thought I developed it from doing it so long, and that anyone could do the same. Later in my career I started talking to them. That’s what led me to doing what I do now for a living. I’m a psychic medium.

Back to last night. Prince stood at the top of the stairs, staring at me from around the corner. I kept calling him to come down, but he refused. I couldn’t blame him, I wasn’t comfortable standing at the bottom of the stairs. I even had goose bumps up an down my arms!

I decided to try to let him out the sliding glass door in the kitchen area, but he wouldn’t leave the stairway. He just kept looking at me, and back at the stairs. So I let it go.

I closed the door and went into the bathroom by the living room, the one next to the stairs to the basement. While I was in the bathroom, Cheryl told me when I came to bed, that the bed was moving back and forth, as though someone were pushing on it. She admitted that it did freak her out a bit.

I told her about the boy, whom I had already nicknamed, “Dennis the Menace.” “Great name for him,” she said, “especially if it was him shaking the bed!”

As we were talking Cheryl stopped and cocked her head, something she usually does when she sees or hears something; like footsteps in the hallway. She was hearing footsteps alright, this time walking at the foot of our bed! We both listened to the soft padding of someone’s “light” footsteps walking back and forth around her side of the bed, the side she felt the pushing come from.

“Okay, Dennis, that’s enough,” I said. “We need to get some sleep.”

The footsteps stopped. Strangely, Prince didn’t growl the way he usually does.
